What is craniosynostosis?

A baby's skull is not made of one bone. It is made of several bones separated by gaps ("sutures"). These gaps or sutures is what allows the baby's skull to grow as their brain grows
If a suture fuses too early, it may cause a change in the baby's head shape

Early closure of the metopic suture leads to a narrow, pointy forehead
Early closure of the coronal suture leads to an asymmetric forehead
Early closure of the sagittal suture leads to a long, narrow head
